Terms & conditions

Any course of treatment provided to you through Distinguished Smiles is personal to you and is in line with the dental treatment you require, as discussed with you and outlined in your treatment plan. Your treatment plan includes what we intend to do for you, which teeth the treatment involves and how much it will cost.

Any treatment plan cost estimates are valid for up to 3 months from issue.

Dental treatment is sometimes complicated and the mouth is a constantly changing environment. As such we may need to change the plan from time to time but we will only do so if it is necessary for the treatment you need. This may also alter the cost of the treatment plan. Should this happen, we will inform you of the reason and explain the changes in the amount you have to pay at the earliest opportunity.

Successful dental treatment is a two-way process. Whilst you are trusting us with your dental health, we must also be able to trust you with your own teeth. You must comply with all reasonable requirements set out by your dentist or therapist in order to improve and maintain the health of your mouth and facilitate your treatment. This will include, but is not limited to, oral hygiene, diet and sugar intake, smoking cessation and drugs or alcohol intake in order to make sure the outcome of your treatment is of the high standards that you expect from Distinguished Smiles.

We do ask that you are vigilant in turning up for your appointments on time. In the event that you are running late for your appointment, your dentist may feel they need to reschedule the appointment or perform only some of the planned treatment in order to allow the appropriate time for your treatment and give you the best possible care.

Our appointments require either payment up front or a deposit for the part of the treatment you are to receive at your next visit. This makes sure you are just as committed to us as we are to you, and that we only have patients who are serious about excellent dental treatment here at Distinguished Smiles. Deposits for appointments vary depending on the length and complexity of your treatment and should be paid within 14 days.

If you are unable to attend your appointment with us you must give us at least 48 hours notice. If you fail to do so you may be charged or lose your appointment deposit. Should you fail two appointments with us in a treatment course, we reserve the right to reassess your commitment to us as a patient and it may be necessary to discharge you from our service. We are a busy practice and a failure to attend could mean we are unable to offer our care to another patient.

During your treatment, you may be asked to read and sign further consent forms. These will relate to specific parts of your treatment, which may be made up of different disciplines in dentistry. We will inform you about the risks and benefits of the proposed treatment and so it is essential you read these carefully and ask any questions before commencing that part of the treatment.

You must pay your fee as requested when your treatment (or each part of your treatment) starts. You should ensure you have made appropriate financial arrangements to cover all of your treatment prior to the start of the treatment plan. Should your circumstances change during the course of your treatment and you are unable to settle your fees with us in a reasonable time, it may become necessary to pass your debt to a collection agency. However, we would like to avoid this if at all possible and would rather work with you to come up with a viable plan. In the event that your treatment has been paid for but cannot be completed by your dentist, any credit remaining will be refunded to you.

It is your duty to update us of any change to your address or contact details. We may ask you to update your medical history form with us from time to time. This is a legal requirement and you must answer every question truthfully in order for us to care for you safely.

We take clinical photographs as part of our diagnosis and treatment process. These are the property of Distinguished Smiles and may be used for education and marketing. We will always endeavour to anonymise photographs so that you cannot be recognised.

At any of the practices in which we operate, we will always endeavour to ensure you are treated with care and respect. As such we ask for the same in return. If you behave in a way that is deemed to be rude or abusive, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the premises and to discontinue any future treatment.

Accepting your treatment plan implies that you have read, understood and accept the above terms and conditions and our fees. Should you have any questions regarding your treatment please make sure that you ask them before commencing – we will be happy to answer them for you.
